Redmi 6 and Redmi 6A gets Android 9 Pie
Now, the Redmi 6 users are receiving the MIUI 10.4.1.0.PCGMIXM update and the Redmi 6A users are receiving the MIUI 10.4.1.0.PCBMIXM software update. Both the firmware updates bring the latest Android 9.0 Pie version with most of the goodies and system improvements. The update file size is around 1.3GB in size which is quite big due to the major Android functionalities. The changelog only mentioned that this is a Stable MIUI based on Android Pie update. It includes the system-wide Dark Mode, swipe gesture navigation control, rotation lock, battery saver, etc. While some other Android Pie features are also included. It also brings Face Unlock support to the devices. Most importantly, the update offers July 2019 Android Security Patch level as well.
We will recommend you to connect your device to a working Wi-Fi connection to save the carrier data charges. Make sure to charge your device battery up to 60% at least. If you’re using any of the Redmi 6 or Redmi 6A device and didn’t receive any OTA update notification yet, make sure to check for the OTA updates manually. In order to check it, go to the device Settings > Software updates > Check for updates. If the update is available for your handset, just download and install it.
